4 (5-6) skeins Knitting Worsted red (2 oz. skein)
1 (1-1) skein Knitting Worsted navy (2 oz. skein)
1 pair knitting needles each No. 6 and No. 8

GAUGE: 5 sts. = 1 inch
BACK:
With navy and No. 6 needles cast on 64 (68-72) sts. and work in stock. st. for ¾ inch. K1 row on wrong side for hemline. Change to No. 8 needles and cont. stock. st. for ¾ inch. Break off navy and attach red and work even until the entire piece measures 8½ (9-9½) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 4 (5-5) sts., at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. (52 (54-58) sts. left). Work even for 5 (5½-6) inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 4 (4-6) rows 8 (8-6) sts., rem. 20 (22-22) sts. bind off for neck.
FRONT:
With navy and No. 6 needles cast on 32 (34-36) sts. and work in stock. st. for ¾ inch. K1 row on wrong side for hemline. Next row: cast on 11 sts. with navy for front border. Change to No. 8 needles and cont. stock. st. working the 11 border sts. as follows: 1st row: K5, slip 1 (yarn in back of work), K5. 2nd row: P11 sts. After ¾ inch. attach red and cont. to work the 11 border sts. in navy and pattern. (Note: always twist yarns when changing colors.) With 43 (45-47) sts. work even until the entire piece measures like back to underarm. Bind off for armhole at underarm edge 4 (4-5) sts. and at the beg. of the next 2 rows at same edge 2 sts. (35 (37-38) sts. left). Work even for 3½ (4-4½) inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for neck 15 (15-16) sts. at center edge and then always 2 sts. at neck edge every other row until 16 (16-18) sts. are left over. Work as high as back and bind off for shoulder at armhole edge 8 (8-6) sts. 2 (2-3) times. Work the other front to correspond, reversing all shapings.
SLEEVE:
With navy and No. 6 needles cast on 32 (34-36) sts. and work in stock. st. for ¾ inch. K1 row on wrong side for hemline. Change to No. 8 needles and cont. stock. st. for ¾ inch. Break off navy, attach red. Incr. 1 st. at the beg. and at the end of every 6th row until 44 (48-52) sts. are on needle. Work even until the entire sleeve measures 8½ (9-10) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 3 (3-4) sts. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. of each row until cap measures 2 (2½-3) inch. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of every 4th row twice (all sizes). Bind off 2 sts. at the beg. of the next 4 rows. Bind off rem. sts. Work the other sleeve to correspond.
FINISHING:
Sew up side, shoulder and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves. Fold front border in half and hem to wrong side. Neckband: With navy and No. 6 needles pick up 50 (54-58) sts. around the neck and work in stock. st. for 4 rows, K1 row on wrong side of hemline, cont. stock. st. for 4 more rows. Bind off. Fold neckband, bottom bands and cuffs in half and hem to wrong side. Sew emblems in place and block to size.
