MATERIAL:
5 (6-7) skeins Knitting Worsted Half Nylon and Half Wool grey (2 oz. skein)
1 (1-1) skein Knitting Worsted Half Nylon and Half Wool red (2 oz. skein)
1 pair knitting needles No. 6
1 circular knitting needle No. 5
1 jacket zipper 12 (13-14) inch. long

GAUGE: 11 sts. = 2 inch.

PATTERN: Entire Jacket is worked in garter st.

BACK:
With grey and No. 6 needles cast on 60 (64-68) sts. and work in garter st. for 4 rows, drop grey, attach red and work 6 rows red, break off red and pick up grey again, work even for 1 inch. Incr. 1 st. at the beg. and at the end of every ½ inch 3 (3-4) times. With 66 (70-76) sts. work even until the entire piece measures 8½ (9-10) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 4 (4-5) sts., at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. (54 (58-62) sts. left). Work even for 5¼ (5½-6) inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 4 (6-4) rows 8 (6-10) sts., rem. 22 sts. (all sizes) bind off for neck.

FRONT:
With grey and No. 6 needles cast on 30 (32-34) sts. and work in garter st. and stripes as for back, at the same time when starting red, decr. 1 st. at beg. of row at front edge 4 times. Work even for 1 inch. Incr. 1 st. at underarm edge every ½ inch 4 times (all sizes). With 30 (32-34) sts. work even until the entire piece measures like back to underarm. Bind off at underarm edge 3 (4-4) sts. and at the beg. of the next 2 rows at same edge 2 sts. (23 (24-26) sts. left). Work even for 3¾ (4-4½) inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for neck 5 (4-4) sts. at center edge and then 2 sts. at neck edge until 16 (18-20) sts. are left over. Work as high as back and bind off for shoulder at armhole edge 8 (6-10) sts. 2 (3-2) times. Work the other Front to correspond, reversing all shapings.

SLEEVE:
With grey and No. 6 needles cast on 30 (34-38) sts. and work in garter st. for 4 rows, drop grey, attach red and work 6 rows red, break off red and pick up grey again. Incr. 1 st. at the beg. and at the end of every 6th row until 44 (46-50) sts. are on needle. Work even until the entire sleeve measures 8½ (9½-10½) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 3 (3-4) sts. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. of each row until cap measures 2¼ (2½-3) inch. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of every 4th row twice. Bind off 2 sts. at the beg. of the next 6 rows. Bind off rem. sts. Work the other Sleeve to correspond.

FINISHING:
Sew up side, shoulder and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves. Front Border and Neckband: Right side facing you, pick up and K with grey and No. 5 circular needle along right front edge starting above last decr. row 50 (54-58) sts., put a marker on needle, pick up and K46 (48-50) sts. around the neck, put a marker on needle, pick up and K50 (54-58) sts. along left front edge. There are 146 (156-166) sts. on needle. 1st row: K across row, break off grey. 2nd row: attach red. Incr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of row and before and after each marker at neck edge. 3rd row: K across row. Repeat 2nd and 3rd row twice more, break off red. 8th row: attach grey, work as 2nd row. 9th row: work as 3rd row. 10th row: bind off sts. of right front edge to first neck marker, K across neck sts., bind off sts. of left front edge. Fasten off grey. Neckband Facing: Attach red at neck edge and work in garter st. for 6 rows. Bind off. Fold Neckband in half at grey ridge and sew facing to inside. Sew ends of front band to jacket. Sew zipper in place and block to size.
