Materials Required—AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED, ARTICLE W11
2—1 oz. Skeins White.
2 yds. Cardinal.
8 yds. Blue.
4 Double Pointed Bone Knitting Needles No. 6.

Left Mitten. With White and on 3 needles cast on 40 sts (12-14-14) and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 3 inches.
The remainder of mitten is worked in stockinette st having a seed st stripe through center.
Next Round. K 14 then k 1, p 1, k 1, p 1, this is the center stripe and is worked in seed st throughout, k 22.
Next Round. K 14, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 1, k 22.
Next Round. K 14, k 1, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 22.
Next Round starts thumb, k 1, increase in next st, k 1, increase in next st, k 1, then k remainder of round keeping the center 4 sts on back of mitten in seed st pattern.
Next 2 Rounds. K even keeping, seed st stripe in back of mitten. This will not be referred to again.
Next Round. K 1, increase in next st, k 3, increase in next st, k remainder of round even.
Next 2 Rounds. K even.
Next Round. K 1, increase in next st, k 5, increase in next st, work remainder of round even.
Next 2 Rounds. K even.
Continue in same manner increasing 2 sts in thumb section every 3rd round until there are 24 sts on 1st needle. K 1 round even.
Next Round. K 1, place the next 13 thumb sts on a thread or safety pin, cast on 5 sts over the thumb, k remainder of round.
Work even for 3½ inches. Now rearrange sts on 3 needles having 5 sts on each side of seed st stripe, 14 sts on each of the other 2 needles.
Next Round. K 2 sts together at the beginning and end of each needle and work 1 round even. Continue decreasing in same manner every other round until 6 sts remain, draw yarn through these sts and fasten firmly.
Thumb. Pick up the thumb sts and the 5 cast on sts, arrange on 3 needles.
Next Round. Decrease 2 sts on inside of thumb. Work even for 2 inches.
Next Round. * K 2 tog, k 2, repeat from * all around, then work 1 round even.
Next Round. * K 2 tog, k 1, repeat from * all around, then work 1 round even.
Next Round. K 2 tog all around, break yarn leaving an end, thread into needle and draw together, fasten firmly.
Run 2 strands of Blue and 2 strands of Cardinal through the seed st stripe same as on ski shoes.
Embroider the designs in Blue on top of mitten same, as on slipper but having 10 rows between raindrop patterns.
Right Mitten. Work ribbing same as left mitten.
Next Round. K 22, k 1, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 14.
Next Round. K 22, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 1, k 14.
Next Round. K 22, k 1, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 14.
Next Round. K 22, p 1, k 1, p 1, k 1, k 10, increase in next st for thumb, k 1, increase in next st, k 1. Work 2 rounds even. The thumb is on the 3rd needle. Work remainder of mitten to correspond.
