MATERIAL:
2  balls Sportyarn (2 oz. ball)
1 pair S.P. knitting needles No. 2 (3 mm.) and No 4 (3½ mm.)
1 set D.P. knitting needles No. 2 (3 mm.)

GAUGE: 6½ sts. = 1 inch

PATTERN:
1st row: *K 5, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, (seed st.) repeat from * all across row end K5.
2nd row: *P5, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1, repeat from * across row end P5.
Repeat these 2 rows alternately throughout entire sweater.

BACK: Cast on 88 sts. with No. 2 needles and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 2½ inch. Increase 1 st. Change to No. 4 needles and pattern. With 89 sts. work even until the entire piece measures 10 inch. or any des. length to underarm. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 8 sts., at the beg. of the next 4 rows 2 sts. (65 sts. left). Work even for 7 inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 4 rows 10 sts. Rem. 25 sts. bind off for neck.

FRONT: Work front like back up to underarm. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 8 sts. and at the beg. of the next 4 rows 2 sts. (65 sts. left). Divide the sts. in half (32 sts. on one side; 33 sts. on the other side) and dec. 1 st. at center edge every other row until 20 sts. are left over. Work as high as back, and bind off for shoulder at armhole edge 10 sts. twice. Work the other part of the neck to correspond.

FINISHING: Sew up shoulder seams and pick up, right side facing you around armhole 108 sts and K1, P1 with No. 2 needles for 7 rows. Bind off K as K and P as P. Finish the other armhole to correspond. With No. 2 sock needles pick up, right side facing you for neck 116 sts. and K1, P1 for 7 rounds, decreasing 1 st. every other round before and after the center st. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P. Sew up side seams and steam lightly.
