Bubble Blouses Pattern - big girl version

2, 4 AND 6 YEARS

MATERIALS:
This little blouse was designed for and knitted with Beehive Caressa, the original wool for "Bubble Knitting". You will need: 4 ozs. (4 yrs.—4 ozs.) (6 yrs.—6 ozs.). Two No. 4 and two No. 1 Beehive Knitting Needles. 4 Buttons.

Tension: The swatch picture is the size of the pattern. To be sure your knitting is this size, to get correct finished size of garment, your sts. should slide easily on the needles.
The instructions are written for size 2 yrs. Any changes necessary for sizes 4 and 6 yrs. are written in brackets thus:—( ).

BACK: This blouse has kimona sleeves and is worked from the neck to the lower edge.
With No. 1 needles cast on 45 sts. (4 yrs.—51 sts.) (6 yrs.—57 sts.).
Before proceeding with these instructions, please read the "Im­portant Information" paragraph on patternbook page, regarding size of the garment you wish to knit.
1st row: K1. *Wl.fwd. K2tog. Repeat from * to end of row. Repeat this row for pattern, for 4 ins. (4 yrs.—4½ ins.) (6 yrs.—5 ins.).
Next row: Cast off 2 sts. Work in pattern to end of row.
Note:—The st. left on the needle after casting off, counts as the K1 at the beginning of the row, so the next sts. worked will be, *Wl.fwd. K2tog. Repeat from * to end of row.
Repeat last row to 33 sts. on needle. (4 yrs.—35 sts.) (6 yrs.—37 sts.).
The kimona sleeves are now complete.
Continue even in pattern until work from cast-on edge measures 10½ ins. (4. yrs.—11½ ins.) (6 yrs.—12 ins.) or desired length.
Change to No. 4 needles.
Next row: *K1. P1. Repeat from * to last 3 sts. K1. K2tog.
Next row: *K1. P1. Repeat from * to last 2 sts. K2.
Repeat last row for 2 ins. (4 yrs.—2 ins.) (6 yrs.—2½ ins.). Cast off loosely in ribbing, that is, knit the sts. to be knitted and purl the sts. to be purled while casting off.

FRONT: Work exactly as given for Back.

TO MAKE UP: Sew side seams. Matching the sts. of the cast-on edges, sew shoulder seams for 11 sts. (4 yrs.—12 sts.) (6 yrs.—13 sts.) from each cuff edge. Sew 2 buttons on each shoulder of Back approx. 1 inch apart as illustrated and use the eyelets in the pattern of the Front which are opposite for buttonholes. When sewing on buttons, sew with a shank under the button of approx. ¼ inch, so that the shoulder edges of Back and Front will just meet, when they are buttoned.

8, 10 AND 12 YEARS

MATERIALS:
Especially designed for knitting with Beehive Caressa, this blouse uses only 6 ozs. (all sizes). The needles you will need are: Two No. 4 and two No. 1 Beehive Knitting Needles.

FRONT: This blouse is knitted from the neck to the lower edge and both the sleeves are knitted along with the front to armholes. With No. 1 needles cast on 41 sts. (10 yrs.—42 sts.) (12 yrs.—45 sts.).
Before proceeding with these instructions, please read the "Im­portant Information" paragraph on patternbook page, regarding size of the garment you wish to knit.
1st row: K1. * Wl.fwd. K1. Repeat from * to end of row. 81 sts. on needle. (10 yrs.—83 sts.) (12 yrs.—89 sts.). Next row: K1. * Wl.fwd. K2tog. Repeat from * to end of row. Repeat last row for pattern, for 5 ins. (all sizes).

To make Right Sleeve: Work 25 sts. (10 yrs.—25 sts.) (12 yrs.—27 sts.) onto right hand needle. These sts. are for sleeve. Turn work around.
Working on the sleeve sts. only, proceed:—
1st row: Work even in pattern.
**2nd, 3rd and 4th rows: Cast on 2 sts. Work in pattern to end of row. 31 sts. on needle. (10 yrs.—31 sts.) (12 yrs.—33 sts.). Continue even in pattern until work from the cast-on edge at neck measures 6½ ins. (10 yrs.—7 ins.) (12 yrs.—7½ ins.).
Change to No. 4 needles.
Next row: *K1. P1. Repeat from * to last 3 sts. K1. K2tog.
Next row: *K1. P1. Repeat from * to last 2 sts. K2.
Repeat last row 4 times. Cast off loosely in ribbing, that is, knit the sts. to be knitted and purl the sts. to be purled while casting off.**

To make remainder of Front: Lift the 2nd st. on left hand needle over the 1st. st. which is the Wl.fwd. st. and thus dec. 1. st. Join wool and cast on 4 sts. for underarm. Work 33 sts. (10 yrs.—35 sts.) (12 yrs.—37 sts.) onto right hand needle. These sts. are for Front.
The remaining 26 sts. (10 yrs.—26 sts.) (12 yrs.—28 sts.) are for Left Sleeve.
Turn work around.
Working on the Front sts. only, proceed:—
1st row: Cast on 4 sts. for other underarm. Work in pattern to end of row. 37 sts. on needle. (10 yrs.—39 sts.) (12 yrs.—41 sts.). Continue even in pattern until work from the cast-on edge at neck measures 10½ ins. (10 yrs.—11 ins.) (12 yrs.—11½ ins.).
***Change to No. 4 needles.
Next row: *K1. P1. Repeat from * to last 3 sts. K1. K2tog.
Next row: *K1. P1. Repeat from * to last 2 sts. K2.
Repeat last row for 2 ins. (10 yrs.—2½ ins.) (12 yrs.—3 ins.). Cast off loosely in ribbing.***

To make Left Sleeve: Lift the 2nd st. on left hand needle over the 1st. st. which is the Wl.fwd. st. and thus dec. 1. st.
Join wool and work in pattern to end of row. 25 sts. on needle. (10 yrs—25 sts.) (12 yrs—27 sts.).
Work from ** to ** as given for Right Sleeve.

BACK: With No. 1 needles cast on 15 sts. (10 yrs—16 sts.) (12 yrs.—17 sts.).
1st row: K1. *Wl.fwd. K1. Repeat from * to end of row. 29 sts. on needle. (10 yrs.—31 sts.) (12 yrs.—33 sts.).
Next row: K1. *Wl.fwd. K2tog. Repeat from * to end of row.
Repeat last row for pattern, for 5 ins. (all sizes).

To shape armholes: Working in pattern, cast on 2 sts. beginning next 4 rows. 37 sts. on needle. (10 yrs.—39 sts.) (12 yrs.—41 sts.). Continue even in pattern, until side edge measures same as side edge of Front from last cast-on sts. at armholes to beginning of ribbing.
Work from *** to *** as given for Front.

TO MAKE UP: Sew side seams. Sew sleeve seams. Beginning at neck edge, sew front and back together and continue this seam along the cast-on edges of armholes being sure to match the sleeve seams to the side seams of the blouse. With No. 4 needles cast on 100 sts. loosely. Cast off loosely. This makes a cord that should measure 28 ins. long when stretched. Thread the cord in and out the eyelets formed by the 1st. row at neck. Draw neck up to desired size and tie cord in a bow.
