Girl's Angora Shrug Pattern

MATERIALS:
This little wisp of a shrug was knitted with Fuzzy-Wuzzy Angora and because of its good yardage per ½-oz. ball, an economical garment with a touch of luxury is quickly obtained. You will need: 1 ball. (4, 6 and 8 yrs.—2 balls) (10 and 12 yrs.—3 balls). Two No. 11 and two No. 7 Beehive Knitting Needles.

7 ins.

Tension: 5½ sts. and 8 rows = 1 inch in Stocking st. with No. 7 needles.
The instructions are written for size 2 yrs. Any changes necessary for sizes 4 to 12 yrs. are written in brackets thus:—( ).

Beginning with 1st. cuff, with No. 11 needles cast on 39 sts. (4 yrs.—43 sts.) (6 yrs—49 sts.) (8 yrs.—55 sts.) (10 yrs.—61 sts.) (12 yrs.—67 sts.).
Before proceeding with these instructions, please read the "Im­portant Information" paragraph on patternbook page, regarding size of the garment you wish to knit.
1st row: K2. *P1. K1. Repeat from * to last st. K1.
2nd row: K1. *P1. K1. Repeat from * to end of row.
Repeat these 2 rows of ribbing for 1 inch. (4 yrs.—1 inch) (6 and 8 yrs.—1¼ ins.) (10 and 12 yrs.—1½ ins.) ending with 2nd row.
Change to No. 7 needles and proceed:—
1st and 2nd rows: K4. *Wl.fwd. K2tog. Repeat from * to last 3 sts. K3.
3rd and 4th rows: Knit.
Repeat these 4 rows of pattern until work from cast-on edge measures approx. 12½ ins. (4 yrs.—14 ins.) (6 yrs.—14¾ ins.) (8 yrs.—16¼ ins.) (10 yrs.—17 ins.) (12 yrs.—18½ ins.) or desired length, ending with 2nd pattern row. The longer you knit at this point, the longer the sleeves may be made.
Change to No. 11 needles and work 2nd cuff to correspond to 1st. cuff. Cast off loosely in ribbing. Sew the edges of ribbing together at each cuff.
