MATERIAL:
3 balls Saxony 3 fold (1 oz. ball)
1 pair knitting needles each No. 2 and No. 3
1 bone crochet hook No. 3
2 small buttons

GAUGE: 7 sts. = 1 inch

PATTERN: As for Cardigan No. 203

BACK: Cast on 80 sts. with No. 2 needles and work in rib­bing K1, P1 for 2 inch., incr. 3 sts. across last row of rib­bing. Change to No. 3 needles and pattern. With 83 sts. work even until the entire piece measures inch, or any desired length to underarm. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 4 sts., at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. (71 sts. left). Work even for 5 inch, from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 4 rows 11 sts., rem. 27 sts. bind off for neck.

FRONT: Work front as back until armhole is bound off. With 71 sts. work even for 3½ inch, from the first binding off. Work over 28 sts. and slip them to a holder, bind off for neck 15 sts. and work over rem. 28 sts. Bind off 2 sts. at neck edge every other row until 22 sts. are left over. Work as high as back and bind off for shoulder at armhole edge 11 sts. twice. Connect yarn to other side of neck and finish to correspond.

SLEEVE: Sew up right shoulder seam (½ inch on left shoulder seam only) and pick up 63 sts. with No. 3 needles and work in pattern for 2 inch. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. and at the end of every 6th row until 51 sts. are on needle. Work even until the entire sleeve measures 7¼ inch. Decr, in next row at even intervals to 46 sts. and K1, P1 with No. 2 needles for 2 inch. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P. Work the other sleeve to correspond.

FINISHING: Sew up side and sleeve seams. Right side facing you, pick up with No. 2 needles 74 sts. around the neck and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 6 rows. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P. Work 3 rows s. c. around shoulder opening, working 2 buttonholes in 2nd row on front part. Sew buttons in place and steam lightly.
