MATERIAL:
7 balls 3 ply Baby Yarn (1 oz. ball)
1 pair knitting needles No. 3
1 bone crochet hook No. 3
Ribbon for trimming

GAUGE: 7 sts. = 1 inch

PATTERN FOR YOKE:
1st row: * K3, slip the first of the 3 sts. over the 2 other sts., yarn over, repeat from * across row, end K3.
2nd row: P across.
3rd row: K1, * yarn over, K3, slip the first of the 3 sts. over the 2 other sts., repeat from * across row, end K2.
4th row: P across.
Repeat these 4 rows for pattern.

BACK: Cast on 125 sts. with No. 3 needles and work in garter st. for 8 rows. Change to stock. st. With 125 sts. work even until the entire piece measures 11 inch, or any desired length to underarm. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 11 sts., at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. (99 sts. left). Now start lace pattern for yoke. Work even for 8 inch, from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 6 rows 10 sts., rem. 39 sts. bind off for neck.

FRONT: Cast on 71 sts. with No. 3 needles and work in garter st. for 8 rows. Change to stock. st. but keep the 5 center sts. all the way up in garter st. for border. With 71 sts. work even until the entire piece measures like back. Bind off for armhole at seam edge 11 sts. and at the beg. of next 2 rows at seam edge 2 sts. (56 sts. left). Now start lace pattern for yoke. Work even for 5½ inch, from the first bind off. Bind off at center edge 16 sts. and then always 2 sts. at the same edge until 30 sts. are left over. Work as high as back and bind off 10 sts. at armhole edge 3 times. Work the other front to correspond.

SLEEVE: Cast on 100 sts. with No. 3 needles and work in garter st. for 8 rows. Change to pattern (work 32 sts. in stock. st., 36 sts. in lace pattern as on yoke, 32 sts. in stock. st.) and work even until the entire sleeve meas­ures 12 inch, or any desired length. Bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 10 sts. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. of each row until 76 sts. are on needle. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of every 4th row until 60 sts. are left. Bind off 2 sts. at the beg. of each row until 40 sts. are left over. Bind off. Work the other sleeve to correspond.

FINISHING: Sew up side, shoulder and sleeve seams and sew in sleeves. Crochet one row s. c. down each front. Right side facing you, pick up 112 sts. with No. 3 needles around the neck and work in garter st. for 8 rows. Bind off. Steam lightly and sew ribbon at neck edge.
