1 Set Double Pointed Steel Needles No. 12

Scale: 6½ sts. to 1 in.

Jack Frost Sport Yarn—2 2-oz. Balls

Cast on 60 sts. Divide on 3 needles. Join, being careful not to twist. Work in ribbing of P. 2, K. 2, for 3 in., then work in pattern as follows: K. 2 rounds even. On 3rd round, K. 1, P. 1, to within last 2 sts. Place markers, and increase in each of those 2 sts. (Repeat pattern of K. 2 rounds, K. 1, P. 1, for 3rd round, for entire hand, with the exception of thumb gusset). Work 2 rounds even. On 3rd round work to within last 4 sts., increase 1 st., K. 1, increase 1 st., K. 1, work in pattern to end of round. Repeat increases as given every 3rd round, having 2 more sts. between markers until there are 19 sts. between increases. Slip 21 sts. (thumb gus­set), to strand of yarn. Cast on 3 sts. Join, and continue working in pattern for 28 rounds.

FIRST FINGER—K. 11 sts., slip all remaining sts. but the last 6 sts. on strand of yarn. Cast on 3 sts. K. the 6 sts. Place on 3 needles. Work for 37 rounds, then, * K. 2 tog., repeat from * until 4 sts. are left. Break and draw through all sts. Fasten off.

SECOND FINGER—Slip the next 8 sts. from strand of yarn to needle and K. them, cast on 3 sts., slip 8 sts. from other end of strand of yarn, and pick up 3 sts. from the base of first finger, work for 42 rounds. Finish same as first finger.

THIRD FINGER—Slip the next 7 sts. from strand of yarn to needle and K. them, cast on 3 sts., slip 7 sts. from other end of strand of yarn, then pick up 3 sts. from base of 2nd finger. Work 37 rounds. Finish same as first finger.

FOURTH FINGER—Slip all sts. on needle, pick up 3 sts. from base of 3rd finger. Work 32 rounds. Finish same as first finger.

THUMB—Slip 21 sts. from strand of yarn to needle, pick up 3 sts. Work 30 rounds. Finish same as first finger.
